Your stroll begins on a sublime shady driveway that leads naturally to the Château de Sassenage and its immense park. Your starting point offers ample parking and is easily accessible from the city center.

The first part of this walk is mostly on safe routes, dedicated to cycles and soft modes of transport. Once you've left the banks of the river behind, the stretch to Parc de la Poya will require a little more attention if you're accompanied by young children. The final stretch takes you along little-used roads. It's a family-friendly ride, with no gradients, accessible to all types of cycles, even Métrovélo!

The first part of the tour follows the water, first along the Furon canal, then along the Isère. Your itinerary, although in the heart of the urban center, is resolutely turned towards nature, with its parks and pleasant views of the Chartreuse and Vercors mountains. The old town of Sassenage, the château and its park will make you want to linger a while afterwards.

Walk up the allée du Château, then carefully cross the avenue de Valence to take the cycle path between the chemin de la Rollandière and the Furon canal.

At the end of the cycle path, leave the ferry bridge on your right, turn right and continue along chemin de la Rollandière. 300m further on, in the middle of the bend, turn right, direction Valence, Lyon, and cross the Furon canal to join the voie verte, again on the right. Don't miss the confluence of the Isère and Drac rivers, and follow its course for almost 1.5km.

Leave the voie verte and the banks of the Drac and continue along the cycle path, which bends to the right and joins boulevard Joliot-Curie. Follow the cycle lane along the boulevard on the right.

Turn right onto rue des Buissonnées and continue in the direction of travel onto rue Joseph Bertoin.

Be careful when crossing Avenue Ambroise Croizat (D531) and its tramway tracks, to turn right into Place Henri Chapays. Maintain your vigilance as you cross boulevard Paul Langevin (D1532) to continue on the cycle lane opposite rue de l'Abbé Vincent.

Continue on rue de l'Abbé Vincent, which turns right and becomes rue de la République.

After passing the Lycée Roger Deschaux on your right, continue straight ahead on the Avenue de la Falaise cycle path, which becomes Chemin de Fontaine 820m further on.

Turn left onto rue de la République. At the roundabout with the fountain, take the first exit, which will take you straight ahead and over the Furon thanks to the little bridge on the Route du Vercors.

After crossing the canal, turn right onto the Quai du Furon, which runs alongside the château grounds on your left. This route naturally takes you back to your starting point.
