Trail route No. 8 is a red route that doesn't do things by halves. Designed for experienced runners, it promises elevation changes, technical challenges, and adrenaline rushes. A real playground for those who like it when the going gets tough.

The loop starts with an ascent through the woods, perfect for warming up your legs in the shade of the Chartreuse forests. Then the trail climbs higher and propels you onto the ridges, rewarding you with magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the valley. Enough to make you forget your fatigue... for a few seconds at least.

Be careful, some sections require precision and good control of the terrain: roots, rocks, and steep slopes await you. A challenging and demanding course, ideal for pushing yourself, testing your limits, and enjoying the unspoiled natural surroundings to the fullest. Ready to take on the challenge?
Marking : Trail Marking No. 8 Red Departure panels are set up in villages at parking areas or public reception points. To follow your itinerary, posts are installed at crossroads and are identifiable by a plaque indicating their name and altitude. Between two posts, painted markings guide the path to follow or not. You can also be guided by small directional signs.

Step by step description : After descending to the bottom of the resort, you will reach the Porte de l’Enclos (entrance to the Grande Chartreuse area) to begin the long ascent of 1000m+ to Charmant Som through the Bois du Grand Logis. A large part of the climb takes place in the forest before emerging onto rocky slabs (be cautious in poor conditions). The summit offers a 360° view! At the alpine pasture, where the sheepfold may be an opportunity to grab a drink, you will take the road to the Oratoire d’Orgeval, then follow a ridge path to the foot of the Pinéa (there is an option to continue to the summit). The descent back to Saint Pierre de Chartreuse passes through the Col de Porte. For the return, head towards Diat, then to the Pont de la Laiterie and the village.
